Home Exchange in Florence
No verified homes listed in Florence yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Florence unfolds in layers of terracotta and stone, where the Arno catches late afternoon light and the scent of leather drifts from San Lorenzo's market stalls. Beyond the Duomo's crowds, quieter rhythms emerge in Oltrarno's artisan workshops and the cypress-lined roads climbing toward Fiesole. Mornings here taste of cornetti and cappuccino in neighbourhood bars, evenings of aperitivo on piazzas where locals gather as they have for centuries. The city's Renaissance grandeur shares space with everyday rituals — laundry strung between shuttered windows, the clatter of Vespas on cobblestones, the particular golden hour that painters have chased for five hundred years.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Florence feel most lived-in?
Oltrarno, across the river from the historic centre, holds onto its artisan soul with furniture restorers, framers, and family-run trattorias tucked along Via Santo Spirito and Via San Niccolò. San Frediano keeps an even lower profile, its streets quieter after dark, its wine bars frequented by Florentines. North of the Duomo, San Marco and Sant'Ambrogio blend residential calm with the city's best food market, where you'll queue for produce alongside grandmothers who've shopped there for decades.
