Home Exchange in Puerto Vallarta
No verified homes listed in Puerto Vallarta yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Puerto Vallarta unfolds where the Sierra Madre mountains tumble into Banderas Bay, a place where cobblestone gives way to sand and the scent of grilled pescado zarandeado drifts from beachside palapas. The Zona Romántica hums with galleries and mezcalerías, while the Malecón stretches along the water, lined with sculptures and sunset watchers. Mornings belong to the mercado and its towers of mangoes; evenings to the warm Pacific and the glow of lanterns in old town plazas. It's a city that moves between mountain green and ocean blue, never quite choosing one.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?
November through April brings dry, warm days and calm seas — peak season for a reason, though the town fills with visitors. May and October frame the rainy months with lower prices and fewer crowds; afternoon storms roll in fast and clear just as quickly. Summer is hot and lush, the mountains electric green. If you're chasing whale watching in the bay, aim for winter. For quieter streets and dramatic skies, consider the shoulder seasons when the jungle blooms and the humidity wraps everything in softness.
