Home Exchange in Fes
No verified homes listed in Fes yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Fes feels like stepping through a portal. The medina's alleyways twist past tanneries still dyeing leather in saffron and pigeon dung, past donkeys hauling mint and olives, past zellige tilework older than most European cities. Mornings smell of msemen frying and orange blossom. By afternoon, the call to prayer echoes off courtyard fountains. This is Morocco's spiritual heart—no cars, no straight lines, just centuries of craft and prayer and haggling compressed into labyrinthine stone. Stay in Fes el-Bali and you'll lose yourself daily, in the best way.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which part of Fes should I stay in?
Fes el-Bali, the old medina, puts you inside the living museum—riads with rooftop terraces, walking distance to tanneries and souks. It's car-free and wonderfully disorienting. Fes el-Jdid (the 'new' medina from the 13th century) is calmer, near the Royal Palace gates. The Ville Nouvelle offers French colonial boulevards and easier navigation, but you'll miss the medina's magic. Spring and autumn are kindest—summer heat turns the stone maze into an oven.
