Home Exchange in Eindhoven

No verified homes listed in Eindhoven yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Eindhoven hums with a different frequency than Amsterdam's canals or Utrecht's medieval core. This is the city where Philips was born, where factory floors became design studios, and where former industrial estates now host light festivals that turn winter evenings into open-air galleries. The pace here is unhurried but inventive—locals cycle past brutalist landmarks and glass-walled museums, stopping for bitterballen at brown cafés that haven't changed their interiors in decades. Strijp-S, once a forbidden factory district, now pulses with weekend markets and rooftop bars, while quieter neighbourhoods like Gestel reveal the rhythm of everyday Dutch life: bakfiets parked outside playgrounds, corner bakeries selling stroopwafels still warm from the iron. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the best time to experience Eindhoven?

November brings GLOW, the annual light art festival that transforms the city into an after-dark spectacle, though it also means colder evenings and early sunsets. Spring and early autumn offer the gentler side: mild temperatures perfect for cycling the surrounding Brabant countryside, outdoor terraces in full swing, and the Saturday Woenselse Markt at its liveliest. Summer sees locals decamping to parks along the Dommel River. If you're drawn to design culture, Dutch Design Week in late October turns the entire city into a showcase, but book accommodation well ahead—it's the busiest week of the year.
