Home Exchange in Siargao

No verified homes listed in Siargao yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Siargao moves to the rhythm of waves and coconut palms. This teardrop island off Mindanao's northeast coast has traded its fishing-village quiet for a gentle hum of surf culture, yet the mangroves still tangle into lagoons and the rice paddies glow green after the rains. Mornings smell of sweet tsokolate and grilled tuna, afternoons disappear into island-hopping or motorbike rides through villages where kids wave from nipa huts. Cloud Nine draws the surfers, but it's the lagoons of Sugba, the rock pools of Magpupungko, and the unhurried sunsets over General Luna that make you want to stay longer than planned.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Siargao?

September through November brings the biggest swells for surfers, though the island hums year-round. December to March offers calmer seas and blue skies — ideal for island-hopping, snorkelling the flats, and exploring inland lagoons without the rain. The wet season from June to August can be moody and lush, with fewer crowds and lower prices, though typhoons occasionally pass through. Locals say the shoulder months of April and May feel sweetest: warm water, light winds, and the coconut harvest in full swing.
