Home Exchange in Évora

No verified homes listed in Évora yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

In Évora, the afternoon heat slows everything to the pace of a long lunch under vaulted stone. This walled Alentejo city — a UNESCO site where Roman temples stand beside whitewashed houses trimmed in yellow — rewards those who arrive without an itinerary. Mornings belong to the market near Praça do Giraldo, where farmers sell sheep's cheese and dried sausages. Evenings stretch late over wine from the plains that ripple beyond the walls. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Évora?

Spring and autumn offer mild temperatures perfect for wandering the cobbled streets and Roman ruins without the fierce Alentejo summer heat. May brings wildflowers to the surrounding plains, while September and October align with the grape harvest in nearby wineries. Winters are quiet and cool — the city feels even more like a local secret, though some rural quintas close until spring.
