Home Exchange in Cape Town
No verified homes listed in Cape Town yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Cape Town announces itself in layers: the smell of salt and fynbos on a southeaster morning, the clatter of the noon gun echoing off Table Mountain, the slow sprawl of vineyards giving way to wild coast. It's a city that refuses a single rhythm—surf breaks and jazz bars, braais on stoeps and gallery openings in converted warehouses—and staying in a local home means slipping into whichever cadence suits you. The homes below open the door to that choice.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Cape Town?
Summer (November to March) delivers long beach days and the buzz of outdoor festivals, but it's also peak season. Autumn (April-May) offers warm, still days, fewer crowds, and the winelands at harvest. Winter (June-August) brings dramatic storms, green mountainsides, and whale-watching season along the coast. Spring (September-October) is wildflower time, especially if you venture toward the West Coast, and the city shakes off its quiet winter mood with markets and open-air cinema returning.
