Home Exchange in Cape Town
No verified homes listed in Cape Town yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Cape Town sits where two oceans meet, a city of sharp light and mountain shadows. Table Mountain anchors the skyline while neighbourhoods spill down its slopes—from the pastel rows of Bo-Kaap to the wine estates edging Constantia. Mornings smell of rooibos and sea salt. You'll find braai smoke drifting through gardens at dusk, craft markets in old warehouses, and hiking trails that end at beaches where penguins waddle between the rocks. It's a place that shifts between European elegance and African warmth, where summer stretches long and the southeaster wind shapes everything.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Cape Town?
Summer (November through March) brings long, warm days perfect for beaches and outdoor dining, though it's also peak season. Autumn offers golden light, wine harvest season, and fewer crowds. Winter (June to August) turns the mountains misty and brings whale-watching along the coast, plus lower accommodation rates. Spring sees wildflowers carpeting the West Coast. The southeaster wind blows strongest in summer afternoons—locals call it the Cape Doctor.
