Home Exchange in Interlaken

No verified homes listed in Interlaken yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Interlaken sits in a slender valley between two alpine lakes, Thun and Brienz, their turquoise water fed by glacial melt. The town itself hums with paragliders drifting down from Harder Kulm, the clatter of the cogwheel railway heading toward Jungfraujoch, and the quiet rustle of chestnut trees along the Höheweg. Beyond the postcard peaks—Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau—lie meadows stitched with hiking trails, wooden chalets that smell of firewood and fondue, and villages where cowbells echo off limestone cliffs. Summer brings wildflowers and long daylight; winter turns the valley into a gateway for skiers bound for Grindelwald or Wengen.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Interlaken?

Summer—June through September—offers warm days for hiking, lake swimming, and paragliding, with trails fully accessible and alpine wildflowers in bloom. Winter, December to March, transforms the region into ski country, with reliable snow in the surrounding resorts and a cosier, quieter town atmosphere. Spring and autumn are shoulder seasons: fewer crowds, occasional rain, but stunning light on the peaks. If you're chasing high-altitude adventures like Jungfraujoch, aim for clear-weather windows in summer or midwinter.
