Home Exchange in Zurich
No verified homes listed in Zurich yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
The trams hum through Zurich on a clockwork rhythm, past guild houses whose shutters have opened every morning for three hundred years. This is a city that rewards slow mornings in Niederdorf's cobbled lanes, where bakeries sell Zopf bread still warm at 7am, and evenings when the lake turns silver and locals swim straight from the office. To stay here properly means waking to church bells instead of lobby muzak, shopping where the dialect thickens past Bahnhofstrasse's polish, finding the Badi your neighbours favour. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Zurich feel most local?
Niederdorf's medieval tangle on the right bank hums with cafés and lived-in charm, while Kreis 4 and 5 — once industrial, now art-studded — draw younger Zürichers to weekend markets and natural wine bars. Across the Limmat, Seefeld stretches quiet and residential along the lake, where locals cycle to hidden Badis. The Altstadt rewards wandering, but it's the outer Kreise where you'll hear Swiss German at the corner Bäckerei and see how the city actually lives between the trams and the water.
