Home Exchange in Geneva
No verified homes listed in Geneva yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Geneva unfolds along the arc of its lake, where the Jet d'Eau punctuates the sky and the Alps frame every horizon. The old town climbs steep cobbled lanes past chocolate shops and watchmaker ateliers, while the Plainpalais district hums with flea markets and late-night fondue. Spring brings the chestnut blossoms; winter wraps the quays in mist. This is a city of quiet elegance and unexpected warmth—where Sunday means lakeside walks, raclette in wooden chalets, and the particular light that bounces off water and stone.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Geneva feel most local?
Carouge, just south of the centre, feels like a village within the city—Italian-influenced architecture, artisan workshops, and café terraces that fill on sunny afternoons. Plainpalais draws students and artists with its twice-weekly markets and unpretentious bistros. Eaux-Vives stretches along the left bank, residential and leafy, with bakeries that know your name. For old-world charm, the lanes around Saint-Pierre Cathedral in the Vieille Ville reward slow wandering, especially early morning before the crowds arrive.
