Home Exchange in Sharjah

No verified homes listed in Sharjah yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Sharjah unfolds along the Gulf coast with a quieter, more contemplative rhythm than its glittering neighbour. This is the emirate of souqs that still smell of frankincense and cardamom, where the Corniche stretches wide and families gather at dusk. Art museums and heritage districts line streets shaded by neem trees, and the call to prayer echoes across lanes where traditional wind towers rise beside modern apartment blocks. Evenings bring the scent of grilled hammour from waterfront cafés, and weekends mean wandering the Blue Souk's labyrinth or driving out to the eastern enclaves where date palms meet the Hajar foothills.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which parts of Sharjah feel most authentic for travellers?

The Heart of Sharjah heritage area reveals restored coral-stone houses and narrow lanes that recall pre-oil days, while Al Majaz waterfront offers palm-lined promenades where locals jog and picnic at sunset. The Central Souk — known as the Blue Souk for its ceramic tiles — remains a living marketplace for spices, textiles, and gold. For a slower pace, the eastern coast around Khor Fakkan and Kalba opens onto turquoise waters and mangrove reserves, a world apart from the urban sprawl yet still distinctly Sharjah in its unhurried hospitality.
