Home Exchange in Boston
No verified homes listed in Boston yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Boston moves to two clocks: the academic calendar and the Red Sox schedule. Brick rowhouses line streets named for colonial trades, while the Esplanade hums with runners year-round. You'll smell roasting coffee in the North End, hear street musicians in Harvard Square, and taste chowder that's been perfected over centuries. Autumn here is a symphony of foliage and football Saturdays. Winter means scarves on the Common and oysters in dark-wood taverns. This is a walking city, built on fill and revolution, where every neighbourhood—from leafy Brookline to waterfront Charlestown—keeps its own rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Boston?
September through early November is magic: mild temperatures, blazing fall foliage, and the energy of students flooding back into town. Spring (April–May) brings blooming magnolias and outdoor café season, though weather can be fickle. Summer means harbor breezes and rooftop bars, but also crowds and humidity. Winter is quiet and atmospheric—think snowy Common walks and cozy pubs—but pack serious layers. Bostonians don't do mild winters.
