Home Exchange in Philadelphia
No verified homes listed in Philadelphia yet β the first hosts get priority placement.
Philadelphia hums with a particular kind of American grit and grace. Brick rowhouses line tree-shaded streets in neighborhoods like Fishtown and Passyunk, where corner delis still sell hoagies wrapped in white paper and locals argue about cheesesteaks with the passion of theologians. Beyond the Liberty Bell's well-trodden cobblestones, you'll find murals splashed across entire buildings, weekend farmers' markets spilling over with Amish produce, and the Schuylkill River Trail drawing runners and cyclists at dawn. It's a city that rewards slow wandering β through Reading Terminal's covered stalls, past Federal-era doorways in Society Hill, into dive bars where someone's always got a story.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network β always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews β reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes β you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which Philadelphia neighborhoods offer the most local flavor?
Fishtown pulses with young energy, its former industrial blocks now filled with coffee roasters and vinyl shops. South Philly's Italian Market still sells fresh mozzarella and cannoli, while nearby Passyunk East draws food lovers to its restaurant row. Fairmount, hugging the art museum, feels residential and leafy. For historic texture, wander Society Hill's narrow lanes or Rittenhouse's elegant squares. East Passyunk and Northern Liberties blend old-school corner taverns with newer wine bars, giving you both grit and polish in a single afternoon.
