Home Exchange in Hanoi

No verified homes listed in Hanoi yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Hanoi moves at two speeds: the patient simmer of phở broth before dawn, and the motorbike rush that floods the Old Quarter by nine. Ancient temples share alleyways with bia hơi corners where strangers become friends over five-cent draught beer. The French Quarter's ochre villas and shaded boulevards give way to the tangle of Hoàn Kiếm, where silk merchants and banh mi carts operate in cheerful chaos. West Lake stretches quiet at the city's edge, while the Red River delta hums with life that hasn't changed rhythm in centuries.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Hanoi?

Autumn—October and November—brings Hanoi's finest weather: dry, mild, and golden. Spring can be lovely too, though March and April skew misty and damp. Summer is intensely hot and humid, with sudden downpours that flood the streets for an hour then vanish. Winter surprises visitors with its chill; Hanoi sits in the north, and December through February can feel genuinely cold, especially indoors where heating is rare. Pack a light jacket if you're coming between November and March.
