Home Exchange in Hoi An
No verified homes listed in Hoi An yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
The scent hits first: lemongrass and star anise drifting from a shophouse kitchen, then incense from a lantern-maker's doorway. Hoi An moves at the pace of bicycles and river sampans, its ochre-walled Old Town glowing amber every evening when a thousand silk lanterns flicker on. This is a place that resists the hotel rhythm—mornings are for the central market's dawn bustle, afternoons for tailor fittings and cà phê sữa đá on a balcony facing the Thu Bon, evenings for banh mi by the Japanese Bridge. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Hoi An?
February through April brings warm, dry days and the town at its most golden—perfect for cycling through rice paddies and lingering in open-air courtyards. The lantern festival falls on every full moon, worth timing a visit around. July and August turn humid, with afternoon rains that clear as quickly as they arrive. September and October see heavier monsoon weather, though the town empties of crowds and the river swells dramatic. Avoid late October through December if you're not prepared for occasional flooding.
