Home Exchange in Hoi An

No verified homes listed in Hoi An yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Hoi An glows softest at dusk, when silk lanterns flicker above the Thu Bon River and the scent of cao lầu drifts from open kitchens. This UNESCO-listed town moves slowly: bicycles weave through narrow lanes lined with mustard-yellow shophouses, tailors hum at their machines, and the beach at An Bàng stretches quiet just beyond the old quarter. Monsoon rains arrive hard between October and January, but the rest of the year unfolds warm and golden. Stay long enough and you'll fall into the rhythm—morning markets, afternoon naps, evening walks along canals lit like a procession.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which part of Hoi An should I base myself in?

The Ancient Town is enchanting but can feel crowded by mid-morning. Many travellers prefer the lanes just outside the core—Cam Phô, Cẩm Châu—where you're still walking distance from everything but the streets stay quieter. An Bàng Beach, a short bicycle ride east, offers a slower pace entirely: salt air, seafood shacks, and guesthouses tucked behind casuarina trees. If you're here for more than a few days, split your time between the two.
