Home Exchange in Ayutthaya

No verified homes listed in Ayutthaya yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The scent of grilled river fish drifts over crumbling prangs at dusk, and bicycle bells echo through temple courtyards where roots have swallowed stone Buddhas whole. Ayutthaya wears its ruins lightly—locals picnic in the shadow of fourteenth-century chedis, night markets sprawl beside moats that once ringed a kingdom, and the rhythm here is slow, tidal, shaped by the three rivers that converge around the island city. Staying in a neighbourhood home means waking to the call of temple bells, learning which noodle cart by the ferry landing serves the best boat noodles, and watching the light turn golden over Wat Chaiwatthanaram from a terrace that feels like yours. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Ayutthaya?

November through February brings the cool season—blue skies, bearable heat, and the rivers at their calmest for boat tours around the temple islands. March to May turns scorching, though early mornings stay magical and crowds thin out. The green season from June to October means afternoon rains and lush temple grounds, with fewer tourists and a softer, more contemplative atmosphere. Avoid Songkran in mid-April unless you're ready for citywide water fights around the ruins.
