Home Exchange in Nuremberg

No verified homes listed in Nuremberg yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The smell of Lebkuchen and roasted almonds hangs in the air long after the Christmas market closes, but Nuremberg's medieval lanes and half-timbered squares hold their charm year-round. This is a city that rebuilt itself with quiet dignity after the war, preserving its Gothic spires and sandstone walls while weaving in a modern creative pulse—craft breweries in old cellars, design studios behind leaded windows. To stay here is to slip into a rhythm of morning bakery runs, riverside walks along the Pegnitz, and evenings in Gostenhof's vinyl bars. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which neighbourhoods in Nuremberg feel most local?

Gostenhof pulses with students, street art, and late-night Kneipen—Nuremberg's answer to a bohemian quarter. St. Johannis, just across the river, skews quieter: tree-lined streets, weekend markets, families on cargo bikes. The Altstadt (Old Town) inside the walls is postcard-perfect but touristy by day; locals tend to live just outside, in Gärten bei Wöhrd or Gleißhammer, where you'll find neighbourhood bakeries and a slower pace. Spring and early autumn are ideal—warm enough for the castle ramparts, cool enough to explore without the December crowds.
