Home Exchange in Galway
No verified homes listed in Galway yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Galway announces itself in fiddle reels spilling from pub doorways and the salt tang off Galway Bay. This is Ireland's bohemian edge: a city small enough to navigate by the smell of brown bread baking, large enough to sustain theatres, bookshops in Irish, and a festival calendar that never quite stops. The rhythm here resists the template — mornings begin slow over porridge and Barry's tea, afternoons stretch along the Salthill Promenade, evenings collapse into spontaneous trad sessions where tourists and locals forget which is which. To stay in Galway properly is to claim a kettle, a front door near the Latin Quarter's cobbles or out toward Claddagh's fishing cottages, a foothold in the city's everyday hum. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Galway?
July brings the Arts Festival and the warmest odds for dry spells, but Galway's charm works year-round. September offers smaller crowds and still-mild coastal walks. Winter means darker skies over Connemara, cosy pub corners, and oyster season in full swing. Spring sees the city shake off the grey with longer light and cheaper accommodation. Whenever you arrive, pack layers — Atlantic weather respects no calendar.
