Home Exchange in Cork
No verified homes listed in Cork yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Cork announces itself in layers: the clang of the English Market's fish stalls at dawn, the tidal pull of the Lee threading through the city centre, the sing-song accent that turns every statement into a question. Ireland's second city wears its independence lightly — this is a place that declared itself a republic before the country did, where locals call it 'the real capital' with a wink but mean it a little. To stay here properly is to fall into the rhythm of long lunches at Victorian market counters, evening walks along the Marina where the estuary opens wide, and pubs where traditional sessions start without ceremony. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Cork feel most local?
The city centre hugs both channels of the Lee, but locals gravitate toward the Victorian terraces of Sunday's Well and the village-like feel of Blackrock and Douglas just south, where the estuary widens. The English Market remains the beating heart — arrive mid-morning when stallholders are in full flow. For coastal air, Crosshaven and Kinsale sit twenty minutes south, though they're distinct towns in their own right. Cork's scale rewards walking: most of the city's best corners lie within a forty-minute stroll of each other.
