Home Exchange in Gdansk
No verified homes listed in Gdansk yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Gdańsk smells like the Baltic before you see it — salt air threading through amber shops and shipyard cranes that stand like iron sentinels over the waterfront. This is a city rebuilt brick by brick after wartime erasure, where Gothic facades on Długa Street hide courtyards with bicycles and herb boxes, and the fish market at dawn still runs on handshake deals. To stay here is to slip into a rhythm shaped by tides and church bells, where pierogi z serem tastes better eaten at a neighbour's table than any restaurant menu. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Gdańsk feel most lived-in?
Wrzeszcz offers tree-lined streets and pre-war tenement blocks where locals shop at Hala Targowa market, while Oliwa to the north feels almost village-like, with its cathedral and wooded parks. The reconstructed Main Town (Główne Miasto) is postcard-perfect but leans touristy — for everyday Gdańsk, drift toward Siedlce or the quieter stretches near the shipyards, where bakeries open early and corner bars pour Tyskie without ceremony.
