Home Exchange in Krakow

No verified homes listed in Krakow yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The bells of St. Mary's Basilica still play their broken trumpet call every hour, a medieval melody that stops mid-note just as it did in 1241. Kraków rewards the rhythm of walking — through the Planty gardens that ring the Old Town, into milk bars serving pierogi at lunchtime, across the Vistula to Kazimierz where pre-war facades lean over cobblestones. This is a city that asks you to linger over second breakfast, to notice the soot-darkened brick, to understand that history here isn't behind glass. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which neighbourhoods in Kraków feel most lived-in?

Kazimierz blends Jewish heritage with courtyard cafés and a young, artistic crowd — it's where locals meet for wine, not where they perform for tourists. Podgórze, across the river, feels quieter and more residential, with parks and the Schindler factory turned museum. Stare Miasto (Old Town) is stunning but dense with visitors; stay there to be central, but eat and drink in Kazimierz or along Dietla for a truer pulse. Nowa Huta, the socialist-era district to the east, offers a stark architectural contrast and pierogi that hasn't changed recipe in decades.
