Home Exchange in Stockholm
No verified homes listed in Stockholm yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Stockholm in summer smells like cinnamon buns and wet pine, the city's fourteen islands threaded by ferries that locals treat like buses. Winter turns the same water into a mirror for string lights, and the rhythm shifts inward—long dinners, early candles, the particular coziness Swedes call *mys*. Living here, even briefly, means learning the difference between a *fika* break and a coffee run, between Södermalm's vintage clutter and Östermalm's quiet elegance. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which Stockholm neighbourhoods feel most lived-in?
Södermalm is the heartbeat—cobbled lanes, secondhand bookshops, corner bakeries where regulars don't need to order. Vasastan feels residential and unhurried, with wide sidewalks and parks that fill at first sun. Östermalm skews polished, but its morning market, Östermalmshallen, is where the city actually shops. Kungsholmen, on its own island, offers waterfront calm without the tourist crush. All are walkable or a short metro hop from the central islands.
