Austria unfolds like a romantic postcard brought to life. Picture yourselves wandering cobblestone lanes in centuries-old towns, pausing at a Heuriger wine tavern as the sun sets over vineyard hills, or sinking into a thermal spa beneath alpine peaks. The country rewards slow mornings—lingering over Melange and Sachertorte in a velvet-seated café, then strolling through baroque gardens where Mozart once walked. Beyond Vienna's imperial elegance, you'll find lakeside villages, mountain refuges, and valleys where church bells mark the hours. Austria's compact scale means you can wake in a city palace and sleep in a forested chalet, all without rushing.
Why Austria works for for couples
Homes, not hotel rooms
Live in a real Austria home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.
Fair by design
1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.
Curated for for couples
We prioritise wifi, kitchen · apartment, villa, cottages — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What makes Austria especially romantic for couples?
Austria layers intimacy into everyday moments. The café culture invites hours of conversation over Einspänner coffee. Thermal baths in Styria and Tyrol offer private wellness rituals surrounded by nature. Evening classical concerts in candlelit chambers feel personal, not performative. The Wachau Valley and Salzkammergut lakes provide postcard settings without crowds—think vineyard picnics and boat rides at dusk. Austrians also dine late and linger, so romantic meals unfold at a pace that lets you actually connect. It's a country built for twos.
