No listings matched yet in New Zealand — be the first host
New Zealand offers couples an intimacy rare in modern travel — the kind that comes from sharing a sunrise over Milford Sound or soaking in a geothermal pool hidden among native bush. The country's compact scale means you can wake in a vineyard cottage in Marlborough, lunch beside turquoise lakes in Tekapo, and end your day watching the sun dip behind Tasman Sea cliffs. Whether you're drawn to the wine trails of Central Otago, the quiet beaches of the Coromandel, or the alpine romance of Queenstown, New Zealand rewards slow exploration and stolen moments.
Why New Zealand works for for couples
Homes, not hotel rooms
Live in a real New Zealand home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.
Fair by design
1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.
Curated for for couples
We prioritise wifi, kitchen · apartment, villa, cottages — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What are the most romantic experiences for couples in New Zealand?
Beyond the postcard scenery, look for intimate wine tastings in Hawke's Bay or Waiheke Island, where cellar doors often feel like private visits. Soaking together in natural hot springs — from secluded riverside pools in Rotorua to clifftop baths in the Far North — creates memorable quiet. Coastal walks like the Abel Tasman or Queen Charlotte Track offer days of solitude punctuated by beach picnics. In winter, Queenstown and Wanaka transform into cosy alpine retreats with fireside dining and stargazing over snow-dusted peaks.
