For Couples Home Exchange in Norway

Norway asks couples to slow down, and rewards those who do. Picture mornings where the only agenda is watching harbour light shift across Bergen's wooden facades, or evenings spent in a cabin sauna as the midnight sun refuses to set. The rhythm here favours lingering — over long dinners of brown cheese and cloudberries, on ferry decks crossing fjords so still they mirror mountains perfectly, in small coastal towns where the fishing boats return at the same hour they have for centuries. Whether you're drawn to the cosmopolitan pulse of Oslo's waterfront or the radical quiet of a Lofoten fishing village, Norway's homes tend to come with the kind of views that make you put your phone down and just look.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What makes Norway romantic for couples outside the obvious fjord scenery?
Norwegians have perfected the art of koselig — a kind of candlelit coziness that transforms ordinary evenings into something intimate. Couples find romance in the small rituals: sharing a thermos of coffee on a forest hike, booking a table at a neighbourhood restaurant where the chef knows every farmer, soaking in a seaside hot tub under the northern lights, or simply cooking together in a well-designed kitchen with ingredients from the local torg. The long summer light creates a suspended, dreamlike quality to evenings, while winter's darkness makes every warm interior feel like a refuge built for two.
