Seasonal Travel Home Exchange in Vietnam
Every season opens up different parts of the country.

Vietnam's dramatic seasonal shifts transform the country into distinct experiences worth timing carefully. The dry season brings crystalline waters to Phú Quốc and Nha Trang, while the cooler months make Hanoi's Old Quarter and Sapa's terraced hills irresistibly walkable. Monsoon patterns split the country—central Vietnam peaks during spring, the south shines winter through early spring, and the north blooms in autumn. Seasonal travellers find home exchange particularly rewarding here: settle into a neighbourhood long enough to catch the rice harvest glow, the Tết preparations, or the exact week when Ha Long Bay's mists lift. Each season carries its own rhythms, markets, and regional festivals.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When should I plan my home exchange to Vietnam for the best seasonal experience?
Vietnam rewards strategic timing. Visit the north (Hanoi, Sapa) September through November for clear skies and harvest season, or March through May when flowers blanket the highlands. Central Vietnam (Hoi An, Hue) shines February through August. The south (Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta) enjoys its driest, sunniest months December through April. Avoid October and November in central regions due to heavy rains. If you're chasing Tết festivities, aim for late January or early February, but book accommodation well ahead as locals travel extensively during this period.
