For Solo Travellers

For Solo Travellers Home Exchange in Cyprus

Compact, well-connected homes with a local community nearby.

No listings matched yet in Cyprus be the first host

Cyprus rewards the solo traveller with a rare blend of accessibility and solitude. You'll find ancient coastal paths winding through Akamas Peninsula where you might walk for hours without seeing another soul, then stumble into a village taverna where locals pull up a chair and pour you zivania. The island's compact size means you can base yourself in Paphos or Larnaca and reach mountain monasteries, salt lakes, or hidden coves within an hour. English is widely spoken, buses connect most towns, and the Cypriot habit of treating strangers like distant cousins makes dining alone feel less like isolation and more like an invitation.

Why Cyprus works for for solo travellers

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Cyprus home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

We prioritise wifi · apartments — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Is Cyprus easy to navigate as a solo traveller without a car?

Intercity buses connect Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos reliably, but rural villages and trailheads often require a car or strategic taxi use. Many solo travellers rent a small vehicle for a few days to explore the Troodos mountains or quieter coastlines, then return it and rely on walking and buses in towns. Coastal promenades in Limassol and Larnaca are pedestrian-friendly, and Nicosia's old city is entirely walkable. Hitchhiking is still culturally accepted in rural areas, though less common than a generation ago.
