Home Exchange in Liège

No verified homes listed in Liège yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Liège sprawls along the Meuse with an industrial grit that's softened by Sunday morning markets and the scent of fresh waffles drifting from corner bakeries. The city's staircases climb steep hillsides to reveal surprising views — Montagne de Bueren's 374 steps reward you with rooftops and river bends. Neighbourhoods like Outremeuse keep their own dialect and folklore alive, while the Carré district hums with students and late-night frites stands. It's a place that doesn't perform for tourists, which is exactly why staying here feels like slipping into the everyday rhythm of Wallonia.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the rhythm of daily life in Liège?

Liège wakes up slowly. Cafés fill mid-morning with retirees reading La Meuse over coffee, and the Sunday Batte market along the river becomes the city's living room — locals haggle over cheese, flowers, and second-hand books. Lunch means a proper sit-down, often boulets sauce lapin (meatballs in a sweet-sour sauce). Evenings tilt casual: a beer at a brown café in Outremeuse, or a concert spilling out of a cellar venue. The city feels lived-in rather than polished, shaped more by steelworkers and students than by tourism.
