Home Exchange in Recife
No verified homes listed in Recife yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Recife hums with a rhythm all its own — part colonial port, part modern sprawl, part mangrove labyrinth where rivers meet the Atlantic. The old quarter of Recife Antigo still wears its Dutch bones, pastel facades peeling in the salt air, while Boa Viagem stretches south in a long arc of apartment towers and morning coconut vendors. This is a city that eats well: tapioca crepes at dawn, caldinho de sururu in the afternoon, and frevo music spilling from corner bars after dark. The heat is serious, the ocean warm year-round, and Carnival here feels less like spectacle and more like birthright.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best time to visit Recife?
Recife is hot and humid all year, but the drier months from September to February bring the best beach weather and fewer sudden downpours. Carnival in February or March is legendary here — frevo and maracatu take over the streets — but accommodation gets tight and prices climb. For a quieter rhythm, visit between April and June when the city feels more lived-in, the mangoes are heavy on the trees, and you'll have the reef pools nearly to yourself at low tide.
