Home Exchange in Avignon
No verified homes listed in Avignon yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Avignon rises behind medieval ramparts where the Rhône curves through Provence, its papal palace casting long shadows over cobbled squares. Summer brings the theatre festival's energy spilling into every courtyard, but autumn might be when the city feels most itself—market stalls piled with figs and honey, café terraces catching the slanted light, the mistral wind sweeping clean skies over terracotta roofs. Beyond the walls, vineyards stretch toward the Luberon hills and lavender fields fade to silver.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Avignon?
Late spring and early autumn offer warm days without the festival crowds, perfect for wandering the old town and exploring nearby villages like Gordes or Roussillon. July brings the renowned theatre festival—the city transforms into an open-air stage, exhilarating but packed. Winter is quiet and mild by northern European standards, with Christmas markets inside the palace walls. If you're after Provençal countryside at its most photogenic, May through June delivers blooming lavender and long golden evenings.
