Home Exchange in Kochi

No verified homes listed in Kochi yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Kochi unfolds along the Malabar Coast in layers—spice-scented Fort Kochi lanes where Chinese fishing nets dip into the harbour at dusk, the hum of ferries crossing to Ernakulam, and narrow streets lined with Portuguese façades and Syrian Christian churches. Breakfast might mean appam with stew at a local thattukada, while evenings pull you toward the promenade where the Arabian Sea breeze cuts through the humidity. The city moves between old-world port rhythms and the buzz of its modern tech corridors, with backwater canals threading quietly through it all.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the best time to visit Kochi?

October through February brings cooler, drier weather—ideal for wandering Fort Kochi's heritage streets and catching a Kathakali performance without the weight of monsoon humidity. The southwest monsoon (June to September) turns the backwaters lush and dramatic, though rain can be heavy. March to May grows hot and sticky, but the city's coastal breezes and shaded cafés still offer refuge. Kochi's relatively temperate compared to inland Kerala, making it welcoming year-round for those who don't mind warmth.
