Home Exchange in Canggu
No verified homes listed in Canggu yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Canggu wakes to the sound of motorbikes and roosters, then shifts into the low hum of rice paddies meeting surf breaks. It's a place where you might start the day with nasi campur from a warung, spend the afternoon watching farmers tend terraced fields behind your villa, and end it at a beachfront table as the sky goes tangerine. The rhythm here isn't resort-polished—it's scooter rides down narrow lanes, temple ceremonies spilling onto the street, and kitchens that smell like lemongrass and coconut oil. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which part of Canggu feels most local?
Head inland from Echo Beach and you'll find Canggu's older heartbeat—villages like Pererenan and Padonan, where rice paddies still frame the roads and warungs outnumber cafés. The coast draws the surf crowd and digital nomads, but a ten-minute scooter ride brings you to family compounds, temple processions, and the kind of quiet mornings where you hear gamelan practice drifting through banana trees. It's a five-kilometre stretch, but the texture changes completely depending on how far you are from the sand.
