Home Exchange in Ubud

No verified homes listed in Ubud yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The first sound you'll notice in Ubud is the rustle of rice terraces in the morning breeze, followed by the soft clatter of offerings being placed at doorsteps. This isn't Bali's beach side—it's the island's green heart, where temple ceremonies unfold on neighbourhood corners and warungs serve nasi campur that tastes like someone's grandmother made it. Staying in a local home here means waking to gamelan practice drifting through open windows, learning which night market has the best babi guling, and understanding that 'Ubud time' moves to the rhythm of rituals, not hotel checkout clocks. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the best time to experience Ubud's cultural side?

April through October brings drier days ideal for temple visits and rice terrace walks, though Ubud's ceremonies and art scene pulse year-round. The shoulder months—April, May, September—offer fewer crowds while galleries, dance performances, and cooking classes remain in full swing. Mornings are coolest for exploring Campuhan Ridge or the monkey forest. Even in the wet season, rain tends to arrive in short afternoon bursts, leaving evenings clear for night markets and traditional kecak performances at neighbourhood temples.
