Home Exchange in Ubud

No verified homes listed in Ubud yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Ubud sits in Bali's emerald heart, where rice terraces cascade down volcanic slopes and the air smells of frangipani and incense. Mornings begin with gamelan drifting from temple courtyards, afternoons slow under the canopy of the Sacred Monkey Forest. This is a place that asks you to linger — over nasi campur at a warung, in a yoga shala overlooking the Campuhan Ridge, beneath the stone carvings of Pura Taman Saraswati. The town pulses with artists, healers, and farmers selling mangosteens at dawn markets. Stay long enough and you'll find your own rhythm among the banyan roots.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the best time to experience Ubud?

The dry season from April through October brings sunny days perfect for temple visits and ridge walks, though mornings can still be misty and cool. July and August draw the biggest crowds, especially around Ubud Palace and the art markets. The wet season — November through March — turns the rice paddies impossibly green and clears out the tour buses, but expect afternoon downpours. Galungan and Kuningan ceremonies happen twice a year on the Balinese calendar, filling the streets with penjor poles and processions — worth timing your stay around if you can.
