Home Exchange in Gdansk
No verified homes listed in Gdansk yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Gdańsk sits where the Motława River meets the Baltic, a city rebuilt from rubble into a living postcard of amber-coloured façades and soaring brick churches. The Long Market hums with the clatter of outdoor tables, the scent of pierogi and smoked fish drifting from cellar restaurants. Cobblestones lead to shipyard gates that once rang with the hammers of Solidarity, and beyond the old town, sandy beaches stretch toward Sopot and Gdynia, forming the Tricity's seaside sprawl. Summers bring long northern light and open-air cinema; winters wrap the waterfront in fog and the glow of Christmas stalls.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best time to experience Gdańsk?
Late spring through early autumn offers the warmest weather and liveliest atmosphere, with June's St. Dominic's Fair filling the streets with artisan stalls and street theatre. July and August bring beach crowds to nearby Sopot, while September delivers golden light and thinner tourist numbers. Winter has its own charm—the Christmas market glows against Gothic brick, and you'll find cosy milk bars serving barszcz and gołąbki without the summer queues. Just pack layers; Baltic winds bite year-round.
