Home Exchange in Stellenbosch
No verified homes listed in Stellenbosch yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Stellenbosch unfolds in neat rows of oak-lined avenues and gabled Cape Dutch architecture, where centuries-old wine estates press up against mountain slopes. The air smells of fermenting grapes and woodsmoke from braais. Students cycle past whitewashed homesteads, and tasting rooms spill onto lawns where the Jonkershoek peaks loom blue in the distance. It's a town that moves slowly, shaped by harvest seasons and long Sunday lunches under the trees. Beyond the historic core, valleys wind toward hiking trails and farm stalls selling biltong and preserves.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which season shows Stellenbosch at its best?
Autumn (March to May) brings the harvest, when vineyards glow amber and cellar doors buzz with activity. Summer offers long, warm days perfect for outdoor dining and mountain walks, though it can get hot. Winter (June to August) is cooler and quieter—ideal for cosy wine tastings and dramatic cloud formations over the peaks. Spring sees wildflowers and new growth, but any season works if you're drawn to wine country rhythms and Cape colonial charm.
