Home Exchange in Bangkok

No verified homes listed in Bangkok yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Bangkok hums with a particular energy: the clatter of street carts frying pad krapow at dawn, the smell of jasmine garlands sold on corner shrines, the sudden cool of a tuk-tuk weaving through Sukhumvit's neon corridors. It's a city of contrasts—gilded temple spires rise beside glass towers, while narrow sois hide family-run shophouses serving boat noodles that haven't changed recipe in decades. Neighbourhoods like Ari and Thonglor feel residential and cafe-lined, while Rattanakosin holds the Grand Palace's ornate quiet. The Chao Phraya River stitches it all together, ferries sliding past both modern condos and wooden stilt houses.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Bangkok?

November through February brings cooler, drier weather—mornings are pleasant for temple walks, evenings perfect for rooftop dinners. March to May turns hot and sticky, though it's mango season and the city feels more languid. The monsoon months from June to October mean afternoon downpours, but they're brief, the streets steam-clean themselves, and you'll have museums and markets more to yourself. Whenever you come, early mornings are Bangkok's secret hour: markets wake up, monks collect alms, and the heat hasn't yet settled in.
