Home Exchange in Fes
No verified homes listed in Fes yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
The call to prayer echoes off tilework older than most European capitals, and somewhere in the medina a donkey carries mint bundles through an alley too narrow for cars. Fes is Morocco's spiritual heart, a city that has refused modernity's straight lines in favour of a labyrinth where getting lost is the point. Staying here means waking to the smell of msemen frying in courtyards, learning which fountain marks which neighbourhood, falling into the rhythm of a place that still organises itself around medieval trade routes. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which part of Fes should I stay in?
Fes el-Bali — the old medina — is where the city's soul lives: riads with interior courtyards, rooftop views of satellite dishes and minarets, walking distance to tanneries and spice souks. It's car-free and wonderfully disorienting. Fes el-Jdid (the 'new' medina, still seven centuries old) offers a quieter pace and easier navigation. The Ville Nouvelle, built by the French, has wide streets and cafés, but you'll miss the medieval magic. Spring and autumn are gentlest; summer heat turns the stone alleys into ovens.
