Home Exchange in Agra
No verified homes listed in Agra yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
The call to prayer drifts over the Yamuna at dawn, mingling with the scent of parathas frying in ghee and the first tour groups gathering near the fort gates. Agra rewards the traveller who stays beyond the marble monument—who finds the lane where petha is cut by hand, who watches the river mist lift from a rooftop at sunrise, who eats dinner when the locals do and hears the city's quieter rhythms. The homes below open the door to that older, slower Agra—the one that exists in courtyards and kitchens, not just in photographs.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Agra?
October through March offers the clearest skies and the most forgiving temperatures—dawn visits to monuments are cool and golden, evenings pleasant for walking the old city lanes. Avoid May and June when the plains heat becomes relentless. Monsoon months bring humidity but fewer crowds and a softer light over the Yamuna. Winter mornings can be hazy, but the city feels most alive then—street food stalls multiply, and rooftops become gathering places for chai and conversation as the sun climbs.
