Seasonal Travel Home Exchange in Philippines

Every season opens up different parts of the country.

The Philippines reveals different faces across its seasons, rewarding travellers who time their visits with intention. Chase the dry season's crystalline waters in Palawan from November through May, or arrive during the cooler months when Baguio's pine-scented highlands offer respite from tropical heat. Monsoon patterns split the archipelago — while the southwest gets drenched June through September, the eastern seaboard around Siargao stays surprisingly dry. Seasonal travellers find their rhythm here: surf season peaks differently across coasts, whale sharks gather in Donsol during specific months, and festival calendars dictate when entire towns transform into living celebrations.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When should I avoid the Philippines, and are there regions that stay pleasant year-round?

Typhoon season runs June through November, with August and September seeing the strongest storms, particularly affecting northern Luzon and the eastern Visayas. However, Palawan's western position keeps it relatively sheltered year-round. Southern Mindanao near Davao sits outside the typhoon belt entirely, offering consistent weather. If you're flexible, the shoulder months of May and November bring fewer crowds and occasional rain rather than sustained downpours — perfect for island-hopping with spontaneity.
