The United Arab Emirates transforms dramatically with the seasons, offering distinct experiences that savvy travellers time to perfection. Winter months bring perfect beach weather and outdoor festivals across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, while summer reveals a different rhythm — air-conditioned souks, indoor ski slopes, and cultural sites emptied of crowds. Seasonal travellers discover that timing shapes everything here: from the cooler mountain retreats of Ras Al Khaimah in autumn to the spring blooms in Al Ain's oasis gardens. Each season unlocks different sides of Emirati life, whether you're chasing the November-March beach season or embracing the quieter, budget-friendly summer months when residents escape the heat.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best season to experience the UAE beyond the typical winter peak?
Spring (March-April) and autumn (October-November) offer the sweet spot: warm enough for beaches but comfortable for exploring souks, desert dunes, and heritage sites without the winter crowds. Summer (June-September) is surprisingly appealing for indoor cultural experiences — world-class museums, shopping festivals with genuine deals, and restaurants offering special seasonal menus. Locals embrace the indoor lifestyle during these months, and you'll experience a more authentic residential rhythm. Just know that outdoor activities shift to early mornings or evenings when temperatures drop.
