Home Exchange in Torres del Paine
No verified homes listed in Torres del Paine yet โ the first hosts get priority placement.
Torres del Paine sits at the ragged edge of Patagonia, where granite spires pierce low-hanging clouds and the wind carries the scent of lenga forests and glacial melt. The park's namesake towers โ three jagged peaks โ anchor a wilderness of turquoise lakes, hanging glaciers, and guanaco trails that wind through valleys carved by ancient ice. Mornings break cold and sharp; by afternoon, four seasons might pass in an hour. Base yourself in nearby Puerto Natales for provisions and warmth, or stay closer to the park gates if you crave first light on the trails. This is hiking country, raw and humbling, where the landscape sets the rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network โ always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews โ reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes โ you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Torres del Paine?
Summer โ December through February โ brings the longest days and warmest weather, though 'warm' is relative; pack layers and windproof shells. Trails are busiest then, but the midnight sun stretches your hiking window. Shoulder seasons in November and March offer solitude and dramatic light, with fewer trekkers on the W Circuit. Winter is for the hardy: snow blankets the peaks, many refugios close, and the wind howls harder, but you'll have the park nearly to yourself. Whatever the season, expect sudden weather shifts โ Patagonia's moods are famously fickle.
