Home Exchange in Naxos

No verified homes listed in Naxos yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Naxos unfolds like a secret the other Cyclades forgot to tell. Beyond the postcard-white villages, this island hides marble quarries that fed ancient temples, valleys thick with olive groves and citrus trees, and beaches where the wind shapes the sand into new patterns each morning. In the old town, Venetian towers cast long shadows over tavernas serving arseniko cheese and kitron liqueur. The mountain villages still speak in stone—slate roofs, Byzantine chapels tucked into hillsides. Here, the ferries arrive but the island doesn't rush. It simply continues, season after season, making its own wine and growing its own potatoes.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which parts of Naxos feel most authentic?

Head inland to the Tragea valley, where villages like Halki and Apiranthos cling to mountain slopes amid olive terraces and medieval towers. The east coast—Moutsouna, Apollonas—remains quieter, with pebble coves and fishing harbours that haven't changed much in decades. Chora, the port town, rewards early risers: the kastro neighbourhood before the day-trippers arrive, or the backstreets behind the waterfront where locals still hang laundry between balconies. Spring and early autumn bring wildflowers and harvest rhythms without the August crowds.
