Home Exchange in Rhodes
No verified homes listed in Rhodes yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Rhodes feels like stepping into a living palimpsest where medieval stone passages open onto turquoise coves and jasmine climbs ancient walls. The Old Town's labyrinthine alleys cool even the hottest afternoons, while the island's wilder west coast offers wind-sculpted beaches and villages where tavernas still serve kolokythokeftedes made from a grandmother's recipe. Mornings smell of thyme honey and strong coffee; evenings belong to the volta along Mandraki harbour, watching gulls wheel above the spot where the Colossus once stood.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which part of Rhodes should I base myself in?
Rhodes Town gives you the medieval Old Town's magic and easy access to the east coast's calmer beaches like Kallithea and Faliraki. Lindos, halfway down the east shore, offers village charm beneath an ancient acropolis but gets crowded in high summer. The west coast—Ialyssos, Theologos—is windier, less developed, beloved by windsurfers and those seeking quieter rhythms. Spring and autumn are ideal: warm enough for swimming, cool enough for exploring ruins without wilting.
