Home Exchange in Ouarzazate

No verified homes listed in Ouarzazate yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The light here arrives different — amber and horizontal, the kind cinematographers cross continents to find. Ouarzazate sits where the High Atlas folds into desert, a threshold city of kasbahs and palm groves where the air smells of clay and mint tea. Mornings mean bread from the communal oven; evenings, the call to prayer echoing off pisé walls as the mountains turn violet. To stay here isn't to tick off a film studio tour — it's to wake to the rhythm of a working oasis town, to shop where locals shop, to understand why this junction of caravan routes still hums with purpose. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When is the best time to visit Ouarzazate?

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) bring the gentlest temperatures — warm days, cool nights, almond blossoms or date harvests depending on the season. Summer scorches but empties the kasbahs of tour groups; winter can surprise with snow on the Atlas peaks visible from town. If you're using Ouarzazate as a base for the Dades Valley or Erg Chebbi dunes, shoulder seasons offer the most comfortable driving and hiking conditions.
