Home Exchange in Salta

No verified homes listed in Salta yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Salta wakes to the smell of empanadas frying in corner bakeries and the sight of colonial balconies catching the first Andean light. This is Argentina's northwest corner, where the rhythm slows, the air thins, and the architecture still wears Spanish bones painted in ochre and terracotta. Stay in a high-ceilinged apartment near Plaza 9 de Julio and you're inside the cadence: afternoon siestas, evening paseos, wine from valleys so high the grapes taste like altitude. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Salta?

April through October brings clear skies and mild days — ideal for exploring the Calchaquí Valleys and Quebrada de Humahuaca without summer's intense heat or January's rain. Winter nights get cold in the high desert, but mornings are crisp and golden. If you're chasing carnival energy, February fills the streets with folk music and processions, though expect crowds and higher humidity.
