Home Exchange in Ushuaia

No verified homes listed in Ushuaia yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Ushuaia clings to the edge of the world where the Andes tumble into the Beagle Channel, and the light in summer never quite dies. This is a city of corrugated-iron roofs and king crab pulled from icy water, where hikers return mud-caked from Tierra del Fuego trails and the wind carries salt and stories from Antarctica. To stay here isn't to tick a box at the bottom of a map — it's to wake to snow on the peaks in December, to linger over centolla in a kitchen that smells of lenga wood, to understand why the end of the continent feels like a beginning. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Ushuaia?

Summer (December to March) brings near-endless daylight, wildflowers on the tundra, and access to hiking trails in Tierra del Fuego National Park — though it's also peak season. Winter (June to September) transforms the landscape into a snow-draped wonderland ideal for skiing at Cerro Castor, though days are short and some excursions pause. Shoulder seasons offer solitude and moody, dramatic skies, but weather is famously unpredictable year-round. Locals say to pack for all four seasons in a single day, no matter when you come.
