Home Exchange in Bordeaux
No verified homes listed in Bordeaux yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Bordeaux moves to the rhythm of the tram bells and the slap of river water against stone quays. Beyond the postcard facades of Place de la Bourse, life happens in the markets of Chartrons, the wine bars of Saint-Pierre, and the Sunday brocantes where locals hunt for vintage linens. This is a city built for long lunches, for riding a bike along the Garonne at dusk, for knowing which bakery makes the canelés with the darkest caramelised crust. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Bordeaux feel most local?
Chartrons pulls in wine lovers and families with its antique shops and riverside parks. Saint-Pierre, the medieval heart, hums with bistros and cobbled lanes. Bastide, across the river, offers a quieter pace, botanical gardens, and some of the city's best sunset views back toward the historic centre. Each has its own market day, its own corner café where regulars read the paper over noisettes.
