Home Exchange in Strasbourg

No verified homes listed in Strasbourg yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The smell of tarte flambée drifting from a winstub, the creak of half-timbered houses leaning toward each other across narrow lanes, the sudden shift from French to Alsatian German overheard at the market — Strasbourg lives in its in-between-ness. This is a city that doesn't choose between cathedral and canal, Christmas market and European Parliament, choucroute and croissant. Staying here means claiming a corner of La Petite France or the Neustadt, shopping at Place Broglie on Wednesday mornings, cycling along the Ill as the light turns gold. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Strasbourg?

December pulls the crowds for the Christkindelsmärik, transforming the city into a timbered fairy tale of mulled wine and wooden toys. But late spring and early autumn offer a quieter magic: the canals reflect pear blossom or amber leaves, terrace tables fill without the crush, and you can wander the Cathédrale Notre-Dame or cycle the Orangerie gardens at your own pace. Summer brings open-air concerts and long evenings along the water, though it's also peak season. Midweek in May or September often feels like having the cobblestones to yourself.
