Home Exchange in Nice

No verified homes listed in Nice yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The light in Nice arrives slanted and golden, the kind that made Matisse stay. Mornings smell of socca sizzling on cast-iron pans in Vieux Nice, afternoons slow to the rhythm of pétanque balls clacking in Place Garibaldi. This is a city that refuses to rush—where the Promenade des Anglais stretches like a promise and the hinterland villages cling to hillsides just a bus ride away. Staying in a local home here means breakfast on a balcony overlooking terracotta roofs, evenings timed to the apéro hour, access to the kind of neighbourhood bakeries where your order is remembered by your third visit. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When is the best time to experience Nice like a local?

Late spring and early autumn offer the warmest welcome—May, June, and September bring sunshine without the August crowds, when many Niçois themselves decamp for the hills. Winter is mild and underrated: the Carnaval in February fills the streets with papier-mâché giants, and you'll have the Cours Saleya market nearly to yourself. Summer means beach life in full swing, but also means sharing the Baie des Anges with half of Europe. For quieter coastal walks and open-door trattorias, shoulder seasons reward.
