Home Exchange in Interlaken

No verified homes listed in Interlaken yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Interlaken sits in a valley between two lakes, where the sound of cowbells drifts down from the Jungfrau peaks and paragliders trace slow arcs against limestone cliffs. The rhythm here isn't rushed—it's measured in cable car timetables, afternoon fondue, and the specific light that hits Höheweg at four o'clock. Staying in a local home means mornings with bread from the bakery on your corner, evenings on a balcony facing Eiger's north face, and the quiet knowledge of which train platform gets you to Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald fastest. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the best season to experience Interlaken like a local?

Summer (June–September) brings hiking trails and lake swims, but locals treasure late spring and early autumn when the crowds thin and the Föhn wind clears the air for sharp mountain views. Winter transforms the valley into a base for Jungfrau Region skiing, though Interlaken itself stays temperate. Shoulder seasons mean cheaper groceries at Coop, easier reservations at mountain huts, and the kind of quiet mornings on Brienzersee that feel like a secret.
